Early Voting Sunday Dates today and next Sunday, October 30.

Prayer Ministry would like to in invite everyone to the Prayer Workshop on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 9:30am-12pm.  Location: Fellowship Hall. The Importance of Prayer in the Life of a Christian will be the workshop focus that will be presented in Breakout sessions that will focus on the youth, seniors, and the entire family. Registration will begin and light refreshments will be served at 9:30a.  All ages are welcome so bring a friend and the family.

Hallelujah Carnival Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed for the annual Hallelujah Carnival which will take place on Monday, October 31 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up in the copier room or contact Pam Jackson at 919-815-4729.

2017 Youth Retreat Committee –To learn more the committee will conduct informational meetings in the sanctuary following service on Sundays, October 30 and November 6.

 Hallelujah Carnival will take place on Monday, October 31 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Bring your friends and family to Poplar Springs Christian Church for an evening that is safe and filled with food, fellowship, lots of exciting games, laser tag, waterless dunking booth, horseback riding, dual basketball and more.

2016 Christian Church Convocation: The 2016 Christian Church Convocation will convene on Saturday, November 12th. The host church is Northwest-A-Conference Tabernacle, 682 Ten Mile Fork Rd, Trenton, NC and the host Pastor is Rev. Dr. R.E. Midgette, Sr. of West Street Christian Church. Registration is from 8:00 to 8:45 am. Convocation Ministry is from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Lunch will be served. Either sign up in the copier room or email your RSVP to administrator@poplar-springs.org by November 3.

Is it popcorn time again? Please support the Boy Scouts by buying their delicious popcorn. Place your order with the Lacewell boys by the mailboxes after church. Today is the last day to place orders.

Wake-Johnson Men’s Fellowship’s Annual Fellowship Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 29tat 6:00 pm at Malaby’s Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church, 911 Old Knight Road in Knightdale. Ticket price is $15. For tickets, contact either Lattie Baker, Rickie Smith or Robert Braswell.

Finalist for The Light 103.9 FM’s 2016 Lamplighter Awards: Vanessa Snelling is a finalist for The Light 103.9 FM’s 2016 Lamplighter Awards (Health Outreach category). The awards will be presented on Saturday, November 5 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh.

Hello Upcoming Poplar Springs Graduates! Poplar Springs Christian Church and MAXX Administrative Solutions, LLC are pleased to announce the inaugural Carolyn J. Sapp Professional Award.

Carolyn, a dedicated member of Poplar Springs until her passing in July 2015, served as our PSCC Administrative Assistant. In addition, she organized the monthly Church Secretary Lunch & Learn sessions attended by administrative assistants of local churches.

The Carolyn J. Sapp Professional Award allows us to honor Carolyn’s memory by recognizing a Poplar Springs undergraduate student who is preparing to enter the job market and who has demonstrated a true spirit of faith-based professionalism and excellence.

  • To qualify, applicants must be either a junior or senior at a college or university.
  • To apply, applicants must:
  • Pick up an application either from the secretary’s office or from any member of the Scholarship Ministry.
  • Submit a two-page essay which contains the following details: 1) How Applicant has demonstrated professionalism and excellence in their community, church, academic, personal and professional activities; 2) Applicant’s plans after graduation; and 3) How Applicant has made and will continue to make a positive impact in their community
  • Turn in the application on or before the deadline date: Sunday, November 20, 2016.

The scholarship will be awarded on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

Youth Announcements

Save the Dates. November 14 – 18, 2016. NC College Appreciation Week: The eleventh edition of North Carolina’s College Application Week will run from November 14 through 18. College Application Week is a statewide college access event that encourages high school seniors to apply to college online at CFNC.org. Special focus is placed on assisting students who would be the first in their families to attend college and students who may not have otherwise considered applying to college. During last year’s College Application Week, there was a total of 71,469 applications submitted by 27,304 students. Over the past ten years, College Application Week has been a statewide effort and we look forward to continuing this tradition across North Carolina this year.
