Mental Health Awareness Fair – “Me, Myself and I: You Are Not Alone” – The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Psi Sigma Omega Chapter, are spearheading a mental health wellness fair for the Garner and surrounding communities on Saturday, April 8, 2:30pm—5:30 pm at Poplar Springs Christian Church. You are invited to join us and learn about mental health wellness services in your community. Door prizes, planned activities for children, mental health advocacy, and a wealth of information will be shared at this event.
Speakers will address the topics of behavioral issues in school, supports for children with special needs, coping and support mechanisms for those dealing with depression, tips for caregivers caring for loved ones, veterans’ advocacy, elderly advocacy, and those dealing with substance abuse. Law enforcement Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) will share police-based pre-booking jail diversion programs that provide law enforcement officers the knowledge and skills they need to de-escalate persons in crisis.

Poplar Springs is offering 10 weeks of summer camp from June 13 – August 18, 2017. You may register for as many weeks as you would like with a two-week minimum. Camp will operate from 7:00am to 6:00pm. There is a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50.00 per child. The weekly camp fee for the summer of 2017 is $60.00 per child. Youth Announcements
Youth Ministry is providing a FREE Personal Finance workshop for middle and high school disciples on Sunday, April 9th, immediately following the 10:30 service. The workshop will last until 3:00pm. Lunch and all materials will be provided.
SMART Ministry is looking for young men ages 7 – 18 to assist with preparing eggs and candy bags for distribution after Resurrection Sunday Service, April 16. We will meet on Saturday, April 15th, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in the fellowship hall. Community service hours can be earned for this event. Please sign up in the copier room or contact Rev.
