Announcements: Week of September 11

A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry – Queen for a Day program is today at 3:00 pm. A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry – the final payment for the Charleston trip is due today. A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry early voting drive will begin Wednesday, November 2 more details forthcoming.

Blended Family Workshop – on Wednesday, September 14, 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. This workshop will be led by Minister Bernice T. Johnson. She is the author of The Perfect Blend.

Cancer Support Ministry will meet on Saturday, Sept. 17, 10:00 am in conference room.

Home Bible Study, facilitated by Dr. William Chavis, will be starting again on September 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Chavis. We will meet on a rotating basis at the homes of class members every other Saturday. Dr. Chavis’ address is 2504 Dunhaven Drive, Garner. Our initial Bible study will focus on slavery in Paul’s letter to Philemon. Those who are interested in attending should contact Dr. Chavis at 919-610-7132 or at williamchavis@gmail.com.

Separation/Divorce Care Ministry – This is a 13-week program that meets once a week from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Poplar House beginning Tuesday, September 20. This ministry provides a biblical approach in finding help, discovering hope, experiencing healing and restoration to individuals hurting because of separation and/or divorce. We will also offer DivorceCare for kids ages 8-12. Both sessions are offered at the same time. Pamela Williams and Kamilla Dancy are facilitators for the children. Please contact Christine C. A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry will resume on Wednesday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

North Haven Church is inviting all women to join them for the historic night of prayer, Friday September 23 at 7:00 p.m. They will   provide refreshments and childcare for children 6-12. Sign up in the copier room.

Alzheimer’s Walk – 2016 – Saturday, September 24 at the Durham Bulls Park. Alzheimer’s disease is ranked #6 in the leading cause of death, effecting 5.4 million Americans, ages, 27 to 85. You can donate and/or walk with the Poplar Springs team “Lessie Mae’s Legacy” (in memory of Lessie Mae Adams Baker) or volunteer with the Eastern North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association. Tables will be set-up next Sunday, September 18 to accept your donations and sign you up for the walk. See Diane Green, Phyllis Boykin, or Joyce Harris for more information.

Missionary Ministry – will meet on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. in classroom #1.

Spouses of the Deacons – will meet on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room.

New Generation Choir Rehearsal– will meet on Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Annual Women Day will be observed on Sunday, September 25, during the 10:30 service. All women are asked to wear navy blue, coral and pearls.

Hallelujah Carnival Volunteers are needed: The Hallelujah Carnival is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m..  If you are interested in volunteering for this annual event, please sign up in the Copier room or contact Pam Jackson at 919-815-4729.

Wake-Johnson Men’s Fellowship – Annual Fellowship Banquet at Malaby’s Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church, 911 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC on Saturday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m.. Tickets are $15. Contact Lattie Baker, Rickie Smith, and Robert Braswell for tickets.

SAT Workshop – ATTENTION PARENTS:  Today is the last day to register for the SAT Prep Workshop.  Registration will be in classroom #1 immediately following both services. Dr. Aicher, former NCCU professor will be conducting the workshop.

  • Tuesday, October 4: 5:30-8:30 pm SAT Test given (Fellowship Hall).

The Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) Fair is Saturday, September 24.  Today is the last day to sign up in the copier room.  The bus will leave PSCC at 9:30 a.m. and return around 1:30pm.  Contact Rev. Williams for additional information.

Youth Ministry Servant Leaders – meeting will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 8:30am – 9:30am at the Poplar House. Youth Usher Ministry – The purpose of the Youth Usher Ministry is to promote young people interested in working in the church, to train and prepare them for ushering as an adult. This ministry is open to both males and females ages 10 – 18 years of age.
