Church Conference will be Thursday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m.
Worship in Pink is Sunday, October 8, 2017. Worship in Pink is a breast health and breast cancer
awareness program that provides educational materials to churches and faith based organizations to
spread the life saving message of early detection. Everyone is asked to wear “something” pink
on Sunday, October 8!
DID YOU KNOW…Worship in Pink was created because:
* Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in the U.S.
* African-American women have a 44 percent higher death rate from breast cancer
* African- American women tend to get breast cancer at an earlier age, when it is more
aggressive.
Separation/Divorce Care Ministry – This is a 13-week program that meets once a week from 7:00-
9:00 p.m. at the Poplar House beginning September 19. This ministry provides a biblical approach in
finding help, discovering hope, experiencing healing and restoration to individuals hurting because of
separation and/or divorce. We will also offer DivorceCare for kids ages 8-12. Both sessions
are offered at the same time. Pamela Williams and Kamilla Dancy are facilitators for the children.

FREE Fatherhood Workshop – For the Daddy’s…All ages from our church & community! Please join
us on Thursday, October 5 for an information session about the new series. The 12-week series
offers:
- Great conversations around several thought-provoking topics **$300.00 cash incentive
- FREE Father/Child Engagement Activities **Meals at each workshop
- Access to Success Coaching **Gas Cards or Bus Passes

Connecting Couples – Are you a blended family? Please join us for a roundtable discussion on the
Blended Family beginning on Friday October 6 . This is a four-week series that will discuss the
fundamental steps to blended family success and realistic solutions to issues that blended families

Home Bible study—facilitated by Dr. William Chavis, Jr., will be starting again on October 7 from
1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the house of Janice Washington, 1210 Minnie Drive, Raleigh. We will be
meeting on a rotating basis at the homes of class members every other Saturday. Our new Bible
study will focus on the Book of Revelations entitled, “Victory of the Cosmic Lamb”; Those who are

Cancer Awareness Sunday will be held on October 22 . Please join the Cancer Support Ministry in
the fellowship hall following church service as we honor cancer survivors and remember all those who
fought the good fight! We also ask that you wear any color that represents one of the different types
of cancer.
Baby Contest has been rescheduled – The A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry will sponsor their annual
“Baby Contest” on Sunday, October 29 , 3:00 p.m. The last day to turn in money is Wednesday,
October 11.
Habitat for Humanity (Faith Partners) – needs volunteers to assist in building homes on the following
dates: October 28, December 30 and January 6. If you are interested, please sign up in the
copier room.
Food Pantry Ministry – The Food Pantry Ministry needs men over the age of 18 to assist in loading
and unloading the truck every 1st and 3rd Tuesday. Please contact Katherine Branch at 919-772- 6119

New Generation Choir rehearsal will be Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Hallelujah Carnival – Poplar Springs Annual Hallelujah Carnival is October 31, 6:00 p.m–8:00 p.m. We
are in need of volunteers for this event as well as generators to operate some of the inflatable bouncy
houses. Please sign up in the copier room if you would like to volunteer and/or you have a generator

LAMBS Pre-School Dance Ministry will have its first practice on Saturday, October 7 in the
