November is National Family Caregivers Month: Join Poplar Springs and AARP CC2C as we support and value Caregivers this month.

Thanksgiving Baskets 2016: Any PSCC member in need of food for Thanksgiving should contact the Secretary’s Office or sign up in the copier room today.

Food Drive: The number of families that PSCC serves continues to increase; therefore, we are asking PSCC members to help with the food drive by providing non-perishable items and canned goods on November 13 and November 20. Please place the food items on the altar.

Annie B. Davis Executive Committee meeting is Monday, November 14, 10:00 a.m. in the conference room.

Komen Finding Solutions Through Science, Scholars & Survivors Luncheon is Wednesday, November 16, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill, NC. Please joining us for this wonderful luncheon lifting up survivors and sharing research on breast cancer. The deadline to submit your name and payment is today.  The luncheon cost is $50.

Women’s Retreat Committee – Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Committee, please meet on Saturday, November 19, in the conference room at 10:00am; thanks.

Ministry leaders please complete the Schedule of Events form and return it to the Secretary’s Office by December 4. Forms have been placed in your church ministry mailbox.

Please Donate Portable Heaters for Families in Need – Men of the Abraham Sunday School class need your help with donations of portable heaters to help families in need for the upcoming winter months. Distribution will take place first to those in our own church family then to those in the community. Contact Trustee Kevin Ragland at 919-449-6444 or Deacon Al McCutcheon at 919-723-1233.

Deacon Ministry would like to invite everyone to the Deacon Ordination service on Sunday, November 20 at 4:00 p.m. Our own Tracy J. Bell, Pastor of New Bethel Christian Church, will be the guest speaker. Music will be provided by the New Bethel Christian Church Choir. There will be a reception immediately following this sacred and anointed service. Please come and welcome our newly appointed Deacons to the Poplar Springs Deacon ministry.

Leadership Training – Pastor Brooks will conduct mandatory Leadership training for the 2017 leaders. The first part of the training will be Monday, December 12 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.. Part 2 will be Tuesday, December 13 same time.

Youth Announcements 

2017 Youth Retreat – Deposits will be collected today and next Sunday, November 20 after both services, in Classroom #1 (across from the Finance Office. The deposit is $25.

Deadline to Apply for the Carolyn J. Sapp Professional Scholarship: Sunday, November 20 is the deadline to submit an application for the Carolyn J. Sapp Professional Scholarship. Applications are located in the church office. The scholarship will be awarded on Sunday, December 18.

Save the Dates. November 14 – 18, 2016. NC College Application Week: The eleventh edition of North Carolina’s College Application Week will run from November 14 through 18. College Application Week is a statewide college access event that encourages high school seniors to apply to college online at CFNC.org. Special focus is placed on assisting students who would be the first in their families to attend college and students who may not have otherwise considered applying to college. During last year’s College Application Week, there was a total of 71,469 applications submitted by 27,304 students. Over the past ten years, College Application Week has been a statewide effort and we look forward to continuing this tradition across North Carolina this year.
