Announcements: Week of April 22

Thank you to all who participated in the yearly fundraiser for Royal Family Kids Camp. Several of our members participated in the Chili Cook Off, donated money, cakes, and auction items; the amount raised for the evening was $18,072. We will have ten additional campers this year, which will total more than 50 children; therefore, more volunteers are needed. Applications are now being accepted for those age 18 and over who want to participate. Camp week is July 15-20, 2018. See Robyn King for full details/applications. Norfolk State University will provide on-site admission and financial aid award packages Thursday, April 26, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton Brownstone. Please RSVP to Pat Baker at 919-600-2686.

Community Navigators, Community Builders, owned by Cleopatra Lacewell, is having a fundraiser raising money for community youth planning a community event to be held in December. She will be in the narthex taking orders for Krispy Kreme donuts at $10/box. Thank you for your support.

RACE FOR THE CURE IS HERE – SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2018. The Poplar Springs Christian Church Race for the Cure Team is live and moving. The Young Adult Ministry is collecting back packs for their annual back pack drive. Collection sites are in the hall near the mailboxes and in the narthex. Thank you for your support!

Dr. Jeffery B. Robinson from Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church will be the speaker this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. as the Missionary Ministry celebrates their anniversary. Please be supportive!

The A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry is presenting their Bi-annual King and Queen Contest, initially brought to the group by the late Mrs. Annie Bell Davis and the late Deacon Major Hinton. In memory of their hard-working efforts, we are asking the congregation for support to make this year’s event a great success. Garner Relay for Life will be April 27 – 28, 2018, at Lake Benson Park, Garner, NC, 4:00 p.m. until… Sponsored by the Cancer Support Ministry.

New Generation Choir will rehearse on Saturday, April 28, 11:30 – 1:00 p.m.

The A.B. Davis Fellowship Ministry is offering a trip to Washington, DC October 17-20, 2018. Please see Mildred Keith or Tina Smith for details and payment dates.

Ladies, are you excited at this year’s Women’s Retreat?!? We’re traveling to the ATL September 13 – 16. Join us for fellowship, shopping, tours, etc. Grab a roommate or two, complete a registration form, and make a $75 deposit. Payment collections are each 4th Sunday; however, you can put your payment in a Women’s Retreat envelope located on the Trustees’ Office door and leave with them or the secretary.

We are looking for positive and enthusiastic Summer Camp Counselors who enjoy working with children. Join us as a Camp Counselor at Poplar Springs Christian Church for fun in the sun, field trips, crafts and daily academic enrichment. Counselors must be 18 years of age or older, Junior Counselors must be at least 17 years old; all counselors must be willing to participate in all indoor and outdoor activities, and must be available four or more hours per shift.
