Job Opportunity: Media Tech-AV Intern

Poplar Springs Christian Church is seeking a passionate and tech-savvy Media Tech-AV Intern to support our church’s mission by creating excellent, distraction-free worship experiences through sound, lighting, and video production. This internship offers hands-on training in live event production, digital media, and content creation within a dynamic ministry environment — perfect for someone who wants to use their creative and technical gifts to serve and grow.

Location: Poplar Springs Christian Church, 6115 Old Stage Rd, Raleigh, NC
Reports To: Media Director / Worship Pastor / Church Administrator
Position Type: Part-Time Internship (10-15 hours per week)
Duration: 3-6 months (with possibility of extension)


General Duties and Responsibilities:

Live Production Support

  • Operate audio mixing consoles, lighting systems, and video equipment during weekend services, rehearsals, and special events.
  • Assist with camera operation, video switching, and livestream production for in-person and online broadcasts.
  • Support EasyWorship or similar presentation software for lyrics, announcements, and sermon graphics.
  • Monitor sound quality, visual presentation, and broadcast quality to ensure professional, consistent output.

Technical Setup & Maintenance

  • Assist with setup, operation, and teardown of audio, video, and lighting equipment for services and events.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of AV equipment and report technical issues
  • Help maintain organized cable management, equipment storage, and stage setups
  • Support sound checks and tech rehearsals with worship teams and speakers

Content & Post-Production

  • Assist with recording and editing sermon videos, announcements, and promotional content.
  • Help create graphics, lower thirds, slides, and on-screen visual elements for worship and teaching.
  • Support social media content capture and management during events
  • Organize and archive media files and service recordings

Collaboration & Growth

  • Work closely with worship leaders, communications teams, and pastors to enhance the overall worship experience.
  • Attend team meetings, rehearsals, and planning sessions as needed
  • Receive mentorship and hands-on training from experienced AV professionals and ministry leaders

Qualifications

Required

  • Passion for audio, video, and live production in a ministry context
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to problem-solve under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled service times
  • Available for weekend services (Sundays and occasional Saturday evenings)
  • Alignment with the mission and values of PSCC

Preferred

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in audio production, video production, broadcast media, or related field
  • Basic familiarity with sound boards, cameras, lighting systems, or presentation software (ProPresenter, OBS, etc.)
  • Experience with video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), or lighting consoles
  • Previous volunteer or work experience in church or event production

Expectations and Compensation

  • Hours: Approximately 6-15 hours per week
  • Weekend Availability: Required for Sunday services (9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.), occasional Saturday evenings
  • Additional Hours: Weekend team meetings, special events, and project work as needed
  • Term: 3-6 months / one semester
  • Compensation: Paid internship with fixed rate as designated by Poplar Springs Christian Church
